It was not that long ago that when we wanted to do research on our next vacation destination, we would simply go buy a travel guide or go to various travel websites and get the opinions of a few authors and sometimes just one. In 2010, this is no longer the way things are done with the explosion of Social Media and the Social Networks we belong to. Travelers today are more likely to prefer the opinions of others within their Social Networks or from locals they seek out on networks of their desired destination.

One reason for this change is the willingness of people sharing their experience with their friends, family and others wanting to hear about their travels. Travel companies have not taken a blind eye to the power of Social Media: You will find many companies on Social Media websites such as Twitter and Facebook engaging users and encouraging users to engage with them. For users, looking to find answers questions about their next vacation trip, there is an endless supply of resources you can tap into within the Social Media world. You can find many of these resources just by using Twitter search: A list of travel blogs, travel review websites, and users focused on telling their travel stories, will show up in the search results. A couple of websites to have a look at when looking for user reviews on a particular vacation spot are: TripAdvisor, Travellr.com, TweetVac.com, Tripsay.com, and the Thorn Tree forum on Lonely Planet.

While user reviews are good to get information on your next travel destination, you must also beware of biased reviews from users: You will have to filter out the biased and misleading reviews to make sure you make the correct decision. On average the majority of user reviews on these travel blogs and travel review websites are genuine and will help you make a good decision for your next vacation stop. One thing to keep in mind when reading these user reviews – These users take time out of their day to share their experience so you can find the information you need on your travel destination. It would be recommended that you also share your vacation experience – So someone looking to visit the travel destination you are currently at, will have the necessary information to help them make the right decision for their vacation spot.

So you want to travel to Austria. Well, you’ve made a wise choice. Austria is considered one of the top year-round travel destinations. Because of its beautiful Alps, winter sports are quite popular in Austria, providing Austria with high tourist attendance in the winter and giving you a reason to travel to Austria any time of the year.

If you want to travel to Austria, here are some quick facts you should know when you go.

Austria – The Region

A land-locked country, Austria is located in Central Europe. It is a mountainous country with an area of 83,855 km2. Austria consists of nine provinces: Vorarlberg, Tyrol, Salzburg, Carinthia, Styria, Upper Austria, Lower Austria, Burgenland, and Vienna. Approximately 99% of Austrians are of Germanic ethnic origin and 78% are Roman Catholics. As for the terrain, the Alps occupy the southern and western regions of the country, and numerous forests, valleys, lakes, and rivers can be found throughout Austria.

The Weather

When you travel to Austria, it’s important to have an idea about the weather and Austria’s seasons. Austria has four distinct seasons: spring, summer, autumn and winter. Summers are generally warm and pleasant with cool nights. Rain does occur during the summer season but the showers are normally short. Austria’s winters are sunny, with reliable and frequent snowfalls. Winters are also cold and accompanied by warm and dry winds in some parts. However the weather overall is changeable throughout the year, so when you travel to Austria, pack appropriately.

The Culture

When you travel to Austria, you’ll quickly realize why Austria is widely recognized for its rich cultural past and present. Austria’s affluence of artistic achievements is obvious in its architecture and structures like the Stephansdom (Saint Stephen`s Cathedral), Schönbrunn Palace, Hofburg Palace, the “Goldene Dachl” in Innsbruck, Melk Abbey, and the “Loos-Haus” or the “Hundertwasser-Haus”. Austria is also the birthplace of composers Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Ludwig van Beethoven, Franz Schubert, Johann Strauss Jr., Johann Strauss Sr., and Johannes Brahms. Like most European countries, Austria has a rich culture and affluence that awaits anyone who decides to visit.

The Activities

If you pre-plan your activities for your trip to Austria, here’s a heads up. Because of Austria’s mountainous terrain, two of the more popular activities for tourists tend to be skiing in the winter and hiking. There are a number of different resorts to fulfill your skiing desires. If you prefer flat terrain to hills, cross-country skiing opportunities are also available anywhere where there’s sufficient snow and few buildings. As for hiking, there are thousands of kilometers of hiking trails that will allow you to explore the Alps and its breathtaking views. If you’re looking for things to do when you travel Austria, skiing in the winter and hiking are two very popular and exciting Austrian activities for tourists.

Austria has a lot to offer travelers and those who want to travel Austria. From its rich culture to mountain activities, Austria is the answer to those who want to travel in Europe year-round.

Amsterdam is an exciting and rather unique travel destination because it is a place that appeals to a wide variety of travelers. If you like culture and history then Amsterdam is a wonderful travel destination as you can visit attractions such as the Vincent van Gogh museum, the Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum. If you are on a stag or just looking for lots of fun then Amsterdam is also a great city to visit as you can visit one of the infamous Dutch coffee shops, the red light district or perhaps one of the spectacular dance clubs.

Millions of tourists from all over the world visit Amsterdam each year and many people just keep on coming back as they can’t seem to get enough of the Dutch capital. This article provides visitors with a great overview of some of the most popular tourist attractions of Amsterdam.

Anne Frank House

Anne Frank was a Jewish girl who wrote a diary whilst hiding in the attic of a building in Amsterdam during the 2nd World War. She was captured and sent to a concentration camp together with her sister and father. Her father, Otto Frank, was the only one to have survived the camps. The diary was found and later published by her father and it became one of the most sold books in history. The Anne Frank House museum is located in the actual building in which Anne Frank hid during the war. If you are visiting Amsterdam with your children then be sure to take them to the Anne Frank house as it is an important part of world history. The opening hours vary depending on the time of year so please check in advance. Tickets for adults cost 8.50 Euro and tickets for children cost 4 Euro.

Van Gogh Museum

Vincent van Gogh is one of the most famous Dutch painters of all times. The Vincent van Gogh museum houses the largest collection of paintings and drawings by this Dutch master. There are over two hundred paintings at the Van Gogh Museum as well as nearly six hundred drawings and a large selection of personal artifacts. The Van Gogh Museum is located in the Amsterdam Museum Quarter and is located only a few minutes’ walk from the Rijksmuseum. This popular Amsterdam tourist attraction is open daily for visitors from 10:00 until 18:00.

Red Light District

The Netherlands is known as one of the most liberal countries in the world which is why it should come as no surprise that Amsterdam has a giant red light district which is filled with many coffee shops, erotic stores and ladies of ill repute. Nearly every tourist that visits Amsterdam will at some time go for a walk through this famous Amsterdam landmark. It is rather safe to walk there so please do not fear as it is just as any other part of Amsterdam.

The ruins are very awesome and the grounds are magnificent. You can feel great Thai cultural and artistic significance. Sukhothai was known as a Kingdom of Happiness. So, images of Buddha sculptured during the Sukhothai era are cultural treasures which impart a feeling of peace and serenity. The large Buddhas there are the most beautiful Buddhas that you had ever seen. Take as many photos as you can.

Besides, if you plan your trip to Thailand in beginning of November, you may join the great Thai tradition, Sukhothai Loi Krathong and Candle Festival” which is celebrated at the Sukhothai Historical Park annually on the full moon night of the 12th lunar month (November) (when the tide is high and the air is cool) In the old days, we had to worship to gods of the rivers and to avoid bad luck. To celebrate the festival, we make the Krathongs or floats in the form of lotus, have candle lighting and play with fireworks. There are also Nang Nopphamat (as beauty contest), exhibition at the historical site.

If you are interested in Thai history, this is a must place to visit. It is indeed one of Thailand Travel Destination.

“Koh Chang” is Thai name which means “Elephant Island“. Only few people knew that Koh Chang is second-largest island of Thailand after Phuket. It is situated in a small province, Trad, which is not far away from Bangkok, approx. 4 hours by road and approx. 30 – 45 minutes by boat or ferry. Koh Chang was declared as Marine National Park of Thailand since most of the area are rain forest, untrekked jungles, hills, beautiful beaches and wonderful waterfalls where you can swim and dive from rocks. There are few wildlife such as parrots and sunbirds in the forest. As not many tourists knew Koh Chang before, it remains a virtual virgin island with jungle interior and a lot of incomparable beaches of powder white sand, colorful coral reefs, sparkling blue water and a lot of marine life. It is very tranquil and would probably be the paradise for those who appreciate pure nature. We can say that Koh Chang can be your best travel destination.

As mentioning above, Koh Chang has a lot of beautiful beaches which is very flat and suitable for swimming at either high or low tide. Some of the outstanding beaches are:

- White Sand Beach (Haad Sai Kao) – It is a beautiful sandy beach and the most well-known beach on Koh Chang.

- Klong Prao Beach – You can find many shops, bars, restaurants at the road along the beach.

- Lonely Beach – You will see fine white sand beach with beautiful stony scenery there.

- Kai Bae Beach – You will love the amazing sunset there. Other amazing one is when low tide you can walk to Koh Man Nai where you can see beautiful sandy beach. A lot of dive shops at Kai Bae Beach are provided wonderful scuba or snorkeling trips for you.

- Bang Bao Bay – There is a viewpoint which offers a beautiful view of the Bay and a beautiful sandy beach of Haad Sai Noi.

Besides, there are nearby islands which are highly recommended :

- Koh Mak – Most beaches are very beautiful and flat which is excellent for swimming.

- Koh Kood - It is the closest island to the Cambodian border.

For your traveling information, the rainy season in Koh Chang is from May to September.

“Koh Chang” would probably gather visitors from around the world to discover through snorkeling, scuba diving or just swimming. There are many colorful coral reefs and a lot of beautiful fishes. In the meantime, all of them would meet to enjoy Thai hospitality and Thai food there as well. Koh Chang can be the place for those who would love to spend their honeymoon. It is the place which is certainly different from the place that you see everywhere else. It is such a wonderful place and there is nothing like this. It is indeed one of your best travel destination. Enjoy the breath of fresh air there.

Rajasthan is the largest state of the India in terms of area.

One thing you can always try is to find a world map or globe and choose a random point without looking at it. This is extremely fun and can give some of the best results, since you can end up with totally unique results. So what if you point to Alaska or Tibet? These make perfect destinations. If you already visited that place, just start over. The idea is to go the first place you choose that is totally new, not search for the most convenient destination.

Another trick is to buy the “1.000 Places you must see before you die” book or something similar and open at a random page. These books have the most beautiful and attractive places on earth, so your satisfaction will be guaranteed. You can get a copy from almost every library or just borrow one. This one of the most beautiful books in the world in my opinion, so you can start adding up new places every holiday.

Something else you can try is to search online for the most unusual events or festivals around the world. Find one that happens when you can travel and choose to go there. Meeting new traditions and cultures can be the most rewarding activity. From grooving on the most unusual African rhythms, to watching the Indians bathe in the Ganges, unique experiences are always available, you just have to search.

A totally unique way to travel and see new places is to go in a voluntary camp. People all over the world need your help for many things. This is a way to combine two things: helping others and helping yourself to see and experiment new feelings. From helping endangered species of animals in the jungles to supporting some kind of events, you can both travel and cut from your expenses.

Something you can try if you really do not want to make any efforts is to go to a travel agent and ask him to pick a destination that is most unusual and arrange for your trip. This is usually not as original and unique as the other methods, but it can give you some nice destinations you have never seen before. The advantage is that you do not put so much work and it works well if you do not have so much time available.

So these were just some easy and crazy ideas about how you could get a special travel destination that will give you some unique experiences and exciting journeys. The road is endless!

Taking a cruise is not all about the destinations you reach, but you can enjoy much more of the trip if you also take a little time to appreciate getting to those destinations. There are so many things to do on ships these days that some cruises don’t even have an exotic destination. They are simply cruises to nowhere, where you can just enjoy the offerings on the sailing vessel.

Years ago there were not too many things to do on board a cruise ship. You would bring a good book and wait until the ship delivered you to your first destination to explore. Now, they are floating entertainment venues that also offer lodging and transportation to your travel destination. These ships are accustomed to seeing thousands of tourists at a time and are chock full of activities and opportunities for everyone.

The larger cruise ships often have many more things than restaurants, lodging floors and swimming pools. Many also have their own shopping malls where you can find anything from beach wear to high end apparel and accessories to toys for the kids. They also are likely to have a number of spas and boutiques where you can pamper yourself and feel more like a movie star than a tourist, and relax away your voyage to your travel destination.

If you would prefer to be a little more active with your free time on board, there are quite a few ways you can pass the time. Most ships offer swimming pools and shuffleboard courts and larger ships will sometimes over racquetball courts, tennis courts, rock climbing walls, and maybe even a few bowling lanes to play on.

If you’re a duffer and don’t know if you can stay away from your golf clubs for the duration of a cruise, you may be able to combine the two. Many ships these days have driving ranges on board where you can practice your swing while the ship traverses the seas to your next travel destination.

For those who like the old time past times, such as reading a good book while enjoying the salty air, you can still do that as well. The benefit on today’s ships is that if you forget to bring a good book with you, many of them have libraries, or a book store where you can find a good read.

When it comes to meals, even though cruise ships are prepared to feed thousands at each meal, they do not compromise on quality while they are cooking for large quantities of passengers. Many ships have master chefs who know their art, and create dining master pieces meal after meal for your enjoyment.

While you will likely enjoy the destinations you have selected for your cruise, you should always remember that there are plenty of ways to enjoy the trip to your exotic destination aboard the ship. You’ve paid your fare to be a passenger who is catered to aboard the vessel, why not take advantage of all the ship has to offer.

It may not be on the top of your list when you think of shopping travel destinations, but Madrid has the best of Spain to offer in its shops. If you are looking for upscale chic shopping experiences, there are a number of exclusive shops available in the city. If more organic shopping is your style, there are flea market atmospheres or a number of quaint antique shops available for perusing.

The main shopping area in Madrid is the Gran Via. This street is full of shops that seemingly never close. Even when the night life kicks up, there is still shopping to be done in this area in many of the stalls around the Plaza Mayor. A word of caution, make sure you know how to bargain. Some of these booths are just looking to make a buck off those in the tourism market and are selling the same tourist junk you can buy at any airport kiosk. Look around, and look for a good deal.

If you love the idea of shopping in the open air visit El Rastro, the massive outdoor flea market in Madrid. In addition to the same touristy things you expect to find everywhere, there are treasures to be found including jewelry, old books, clothes and antiques that need new homes. If you are in the area on a Sunday there is also a coin and stamp fair nearby.

Check out the La Latina Metro Stop. This is located between the Ronda De Toledo and the Plaza de Cascorro and Ronda de Toledo. You will know you are there when you see the massive Eloy Gonzalo statue in the center of Cascorro Square.

This place is packed on the weekends, as it is a travel destination, but while the crowds are big, so are the deals to be had! There are many, many shopping opportunities. There is also some shopping potential during the week, but not nearly as lively an experience as on the weekend.

Want the latest in style and fashion? Then you want the Alcalá area. You will be able to roam from boutique to boutique filled with dresses, shoes, and all the latest accessories. If you are using the metro as your transport, get off at the Sol or Sevilla.

Another fancy shopping destination is Calle Serrano. This street is full of the finest in shopping including art, gifts and a variety of designer clothing items. You can find a precious gift for yourself, and don’t forget to get something for those back at home that were not lucky enough to be vacationing in Madrid.

The high fashion shopping in Madrid is not just for women. Both genders of the tourism market are appreciated where fashion is concerned. The Calle Princessa, which can be accessed by the Argüelles and Ventura Rodríguez metro stops, is lined with a number of men’s boutiques selling suits, accessories and shoes for the classiest of men.

For a quaint shopping experience, try the Calle Preciados. It is a shopping area that is only accessible by walking. To get there, take the Metro to Sol.

Finally get a real feel of Spain at the Mercado de San Miguel. This was once just a fish market, but now it offers a wide variety of foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, and other delectable items to experience.

Thailand, or the “Land of Smiles”, as it is also called, is one of the most popular tourist destinations. When you ask someone what are his top travel destinations, Thailand will often be the answer. What makes Thailand such a popular tourist destination? We will see that there are quite a few contributing factors that make Thailand such a popular country.

First of all, Thailand isn’t called the “Land of Smiles” for nothing; there is a good reason why it has that name. Thailand has the reputation of being a country that is extremely hospitable for tourists. Thais are such nice people, always smiling and trying to help whenever they can. They are genuinely interested and have at heart that everyone who visit’s Thailand enjoys their stay. Even though this is a very good reason to visit Thailand, there are a few more that make’s it a must for any tourist.

Another reason would be the rich culture and history of the country. When you visit Thailand, you will be amazed at the number of great temples that you can find a bit everywhere. While in Bangkok, everyone should stop by the Grand palace and the temple of the Emerald Buddha. After that, whether you go up North towards Chiang Mai or down south towards Phuket, you will find many temples and a rich culture that is truly unique. Ayutthaya is such a grand sight to behold and is an UNESCO world heritage site. But there are not only nice temples and ruins to visit in Thailand, the natural beauty of the country is one of its greatest assets.

Beautiful beaches in the South, mountains and rainforest to the North, there is really something for everyone in Thailand. Phuket is one of the top destinations in South East Asia and for good reasons. The beaches are superb, the weather is great, what can you ask more? In Thailand there are more beautiful beaches than you can possibly hope to visit during your trip, so you should choose carefully. Koh Phi Phi is one of the most popular and became famous after the movie The Beach. There are hundred of tourists that visit Koh Phi Phi every day. But the North also has its charm, although a different kind of charm. If you want to do some jungle trek, you will be very happy by going around Chiang Mai. It is a very fulfilling experience to do a jungle trek in the mountains around Chiang Mai and to visit some small villages.

Shopping is another reason why so many people go to Thailand. Bangkok is quickly becoming a shopper’s paradise. There are huge shopping malls being built around the city and the prices are very good. You can find many bargains if you look around and can also find the top brands in the bigger shopping malls such as Siam Paragon and Central World. If you stop by Bangkok, you should definitely go to the Chatuchak weekend market, the biggest open market in the world. There are over 15,000 stalls and each day hundred of thousands of people go to the market.

Thai food is another reason why people want to go to Thailand. Everyone knows about Thai food, it is very popular and gaining in popularity in Europe and North America. In Thailand, Thai food is much better than what you will find anywhere else and there are restaurants everywhere. There is so much choice of food that when arriving in Thailand you won’t know where to eat. Thai cuisine is very diverse, as there are specialties form the North of Thailand and also form the South. You should definitely try a Pad Thai when you arrive in Thailand, you will fall in love with that meal.

Finally, the last reason is the price. Aside from the air ticket, staying in Thailand is very cheap. You can find nice hotels for about 30$ US and if you eat in smaller restaurants it will cost you around 2$. Activities are also very cheap, as is travel. Staying in Thailand won’t cost you as much as the air ticket if you want to stay on a budget. You could easily spend a lot of money if you stay in the top hotels, as there are prices for everyone, but you can also easily spend very little each day.

So with all these nice factors that make Thailand truly unique, it is no wonder that it is such a popular destination. Everyone should visit Thailand at least once in their life. All of these factors individually could be enough to visit this wonderful country, but when you add them all together, you get a destination that you won’t want to leave.
