It’s certainly a possibility to locate numerous sales on airfares by keeping tabs in the print media or researching the internet. While it is also possible for you to get a great deal through learning it from a travel agent, the internet has now given consumers the added benefit of being available 24-7, at any time. This is a great thing, since you might find a last minute travel bargain that you need to grab up on the fly so to speak. The internet, as a resource, is ideally setup for opportunities for consumers similar to last minute flight bargains.

Destination?

It is challenging to plan an exuberant trip by way of last minute flight bargains, due to the fact that they can have plenty of variability in time. Your last minute flight bargain might be $200 cheaper than other similar flights. However, be certain that you look out for things such as departure time as well as layover so that you can attempt to avoid a difficult red eye flight or a challenging few hours in an airport having to wait for the next lag of your trip to begin.

Departing At The Right time Can Maximize Savings

Ironically the wrong travel time for many people just might be the right time for you to travel. Picking up flights that leave on a Tuesday of Wednesday in the early morning hours, will likely be the best method for you to save the most cash on a last minute flight destination. Have you ever flown on Christmas? How about on Christmas Eve? By traveling during the holidays dates , you can usually locate bargain flight rates and you can also avoid crowds.

Obtaining an excellent last minute flight bargain is certainly not a sure thing with the following method; caveat emptor! It is also not for individuals who have difficulty being spontaneous. With some luck and some backbone, you will be able to sometimes get tickets during the same day the plane departs. At this juncture, many of the airlines are eager to fill up any of the seats that are available and also have the ability to offer a much cheaper price as well. This method isn’t for the faint of heart, but it can be an effective way to obtain a seat on a plane at a discount.

Traveling Abroad

While travel agents within the United States might or might not be able to get you a better airfare than you can locate over the world wide web, they are virtually a must-have if you are thinking to travel abroad to locate a last minute flight bargain. Take for example, India, you have the option to use the international student service (STA) travel to locate excellent airfares over many regions, this also includes a last minute flight bargain in the case of an emergency that requires going back home quickly.

There are numerous people that have their mind set to get various cheap flights, yet they never actually make the effort. Mostly they depend on individuals to do it for them, the third party types of companies that are around just to put together cheap packages for those travelers who don’t wish to do it on their own. While many of these types of deals are good enough for most people they are rarely if ever the best.

The majority of airlines typically offer some of their discount tickets up to these types of companies, however in the end, the bigger deals that they carry are offered directly from them. With some basic research, consumers can very easily locate different cheap airline flights on their own, likely they will be less expensive than anything offered by any of the travel companies.

Locating The Best Deal

For consumers, doing research is a key element. As a matter of fact, the best cheap airline flight is likely the one that is closest to home. That is to say, it is very important for people looking to travel to be familiar with their respective local airports, and to know which of the airlines frequent those same airports. There are many large cities, such as Boston, that have bigger sized airports, however there are other airports within reasonable driving distance that can serve as alternative choices.

These type of secondary airports – New Hampshire, Rhode Island,
Manchester for example, quite frequently have cheaper flights due to the fact that they are less popular. They also serve as hubs for some of the airlines, and those airlines quite frequently fly out numerous amounts of flights, yet will not be able to book all of them.

Many airlines would prefer to sell a cheap airline flight as opposed to having no flight at all, so many consumers are likely be able to secure good deals if they spend their time researching which airports are nearby, and which airlines service those airports.

An additional type of information worth looking into is peak travel times. Throughout the country, numerous different airports experience varying volumes at different times. Seasons, Holidays as well as school vacations all play a significant factor into these fluctuations, so what would be a period that is crowded in the Northeast area might not necessarily be a crowded time in the area of the Southeast. Many airlines will offer a cheap airline flight for a specific span of dates.

If people looking to travel can make plans around those particular dates, and of for them it doesn’t matter when the trip happens, they will be able to spend a lot less money by catering to the needs of the airlines. During travel times in their peak periods people are going to seek out flights regardless, so many airlines can afford to raise their prices. However, when travel times are poor, airlines will make available a cheap airline flight on a consistent basis in the hopes of securing at a minimum at least some business.

See the world from a different perspective. Try a balloon flight.

The thrill of a hot air balloon flight coupled with its peaceful serenity makes it an irresistible attraction. The roar of the burners soon transforms wispy nylon rustled by the breeze on the ground into a mighty balloon of immense stature.

As you rise gently from the ground it will feel more that the ground is dropping away than of any sensation of movement or rising. There is a feeling of peace and tranquillity and an apparent lack of wind – because it’s taking you with it.

Balloon flights are widely regarded as the experience of a lifetime, and can be a perfect gift for a couple’s anniversary, or an important birthday, or to someone you love. Balloon flights also work extremely week as corporate outings for those companies who want to do something a little bit different. Flights can take in any number from two to 19, so it could be a romantic flight for two or many of your most important clients who take to the air.

From Kent to Monmouthshire, from Cornwall to Aberdeenshire, there are hundreds of launch sites across England, Scotland and Wales, so you’re probably not far from the nearest one to you. Search for balloon flights now.

A hot air balloon ride can be a magical experience. You can experience the world from a different perspective in peace and tranquillity, hearing a dog’s bark or child’s cry in away you’ve never done before. From heights of up to a few thousand feet, you can gaze down upon the ‘miniature’ villages, towns and the countryside; onto the ‘toy’ cars and ‘model’ railways.

It’s a great place for aerial photography; a great vantage point to help record the magic of the flight. Every trip is unique, as each one is dependent on the wind, but you’ll have a good opportunity to spot wildlife, especially on morning flights.

A balloon flight is the oldest form of flying – yet still one of the most enjoyable and relaxing. Take time away from the fast pace of life, and suspend time and stress as you relax, watching the world drift below you.

The commercial airlines are not the only employers you can look to when you want to find out what corporate flight jobs are available. Many corporations have their own fleet of jets and hire corporate flight attendants to see to the needs of the passengers. One thing you will realize is that the salary you receive working for a private firm or a smaller airline is often higher than that offered by a commercial airline. In order to get such a job, though, you do need to have experience working as a flight attendant, which is usually two to three years. You will also have to relocate to the area of the corporations head office. Right now the two main areas in which most of these jobs are located are Los Angeles and New York.

There are several types of employers in the field of corporate flights. Fractional Operators services several corporations. When you work with one of these employers the starting salary is usually on the low end of the scale, but the good news is that they usually don’t require you to have a lot of experience. They will provide the training you need to work for them. You will adapt to their regulations and many of these operators do not require you to relocate, often allowing you to meet the plane in a specific airport.

Charter Flights pay a slightly higher salary for corporate flight attendants. These companies rent their planes and personnel to individuals rather than have them on standby for specific corporations to use. Working for this type of airline business, you have the opportunity to log more hours because you will have more flying time with a wide variety of passengers. Your salary will depend on your experience and the location of the employer because this affects the type of charter flights it offers.

Owner operators own their own planes and only fly their employees or executives of the company from place to place. The salary and the duties involved in these corporate flight attendant jobs can vary widely. You may have to do everything onboard or you may be in charge of other flight attendants, supervising their activities.

You can be a full time employee of one of these flying services and available to fly when needed or you can work on contract through an agency. Working through an agency lets you work on contracts for flights and be paid per day. The salary for this is usually quite high and gives you the opportunity to work on all types of corporate and charter flights.

When you have the training you need to work as a corporate flight attendant, you will find many jobs in this line of work by searching online. Search through the ads and apply for the jobs that appeal to you. Cold calling airlines and corporations is also an effective way of obtaining a job because it lets you know if the company is hiring. You can also gain much information and meet prospective employers by attending airport events as well as meetings and conferences.

Flight Archery, Is the art of the Archer shooting for distance and speed. There are several different disciplines within the sport of archery. All are developed from either hunting or warfare. Most involve shooting at a target. Flight archery is the one that doesn’t. I like to think of Flight archery as the “101″ of archery.

Flight shooting is one of the oldest archery sports. It’s not hard to envision two cavemen with bows betting on who can shoot and arrow the furthest. Hand bows to a couple of 5 year olds and leave them unsupervised for 2 minutes and they’ll be seeing how far they can shoot. That is the essence of flight shooting, to see how far they will go. The NAA and FITA recognize and sanction flight shooting. Many classes are provided so that virtually any type bow will fit into a class. It’s further broken down into peak draw weights within classes, plus men’s, ladies, and youth, intermediate, juniors, and cadet classes.

There are of course two types of arrows that are used in this type of Archery.

The Regular Flight Arrow

The Broadhead Flight Arrow

These arrows are of the type suitable for hunting and should cut the grade for the purpose of Flight Archery shooting. These also can be combined with many types of bows, Of course this will be Dependant on the Archers preference. Whether these maybe, standard recurve and compound bows, crossbows, flight bows that have an extended handle and a large overdraw, “primitive” bows and the “foot bow”. These are all up to the separate needs of the Archer him or her self.

Records are kept for each combination of bow, arrow and shooter class sanctioned by the National Archery Association’s (NAA) Flight Committee. In a flight tournament, each archer shoots four “ends” (number of arrows shot before the score is taken or a portion of any specific round) of six arrows. Each end may be in a different class. A different bow can be used for each class or the archer may shoot the same bow for all four classes. There is a world’s record for the “foot bow” over one mile in distance.

Tips for Your Family Flight

Anyone facing air travel today already has to content with reduced numbers of flights, long waits at security checks, and often unexplained delays. For people flying solo the ordeal can be stressful enough, but for families traveling together air travel is even more challenging. Using these tips can smooth your flight preparations so that your flight itself can be an enjoyable part of your vacation instead of something you must simply tolerate until you reach your destination.

Because you’re flying as a family, it’s essential that you book your flight reservations well in advance of your departure date. Most flights fill up quickly, and you want the peace of mind which comes from knowing that your air travel arrangements have been finalized. Making your reservations early will also give you the best chance of finding a direct flight to your destination. This can be a real blessing if you’re traveling with very small children!

When you start packing for the flight, you should make sure each of your kids has a carry-on bag with some games or books to keep them all entertained while you’re aloft. Once the novelty of being thirty thousand feet above the Earth has worn off, they could easily become restless in their confined quarters so you need something fun for them to do.

For your smallest children you can pack books to read to them, along with one or tow of their favorite plush toys to help them feel secure. Your older kids can bring along their video games, DVD players, playing cards, or books.

No matter what you do don’t forget to pack snacks for your kids. Many airlines have given up their in-flight meals, and the ones which still serve them don’t always have food which appeals to kids. While you can arrive at the airport early enough to get snacks after you’ve cleared the security check lands, airport food is notoriously expensive Your best option is to make sure everyone leaves home on a full stomach, and that you’ve reserved one carry-on bag with a favorite snack for each child.

Remember that the airlines have now placed limits on the amount of bottled liquids you can carry through security. So bring along an empty container and fill it with water from an airport fountain before your board your flight, if you don’t want to spend the money on airport sodas. You don’t want your kids to become dehydrated during your flight.

You can carry a single bottle of formula if you’re flying with an infant. Be sure to pack some formula powder with your baby’s supplies to mix with some of that airport water if you need it. You can also brink small bottles of juice for your older kids, but check with the airline in advance to make sure they’re the right size.

It’s critical, when you get to the airport, that your entire family stays together. Make sure that you kids understand how important it is not to go wandering off, even though they might be excited at all the new sights and sounds. Let your older children share the responsibility of carrying their own carry-on bags, and helping the younger ones through the security checkpoints so they don’t lose things like coins or even their shoes! The secret to a smooth family flight begins with a family functioning smoothly on the ground!

Remember to book your flight at http://www.myroadtotravel.com

The most important step you can take to ensure your upcoming vacation or trip gets off to a stress-free start is to book your airline seats as soon as you know where you’ll be flying and when. There are significant benefits to having your airline seats confirmed well in advance of your departure. What are they?

First and foremost, getting your airline arrangements taken care of will free your mind to start planning the other details of your trip. Travel is by nature a stressful experience, even when you are thrilled at the idea of getting away. If you book your airline flight right away, however, you won’t have to worry about annoying details like last-minute fare hikes or being unable to find seats.

By giving yourself plenty of advance time to book your flight, you’ll also have time to do extensive comparison shopping and lock in the lowest fare on the best airline. You’ll be able to research your different flight options in detail, weighing things like departure times, layovers, in-flight meals and entertainment, arrival times, and airline safety records.

Booking your airline tickets early will usually get you the most affordable fare. If, however, you find at a later date that your airline is offering seats on the flight you booked for a better up rice than you were given, don’t be afraid to contact them to try and renegotiate your price.

By having your flight reservations taken care of early, you’ll be able to make whatever arrangements you need to on the other end of the flight. You’ll be able to give plenty of advance notice to the person who’ll be meeting you at the airport, or to get a seat on your hotel shuttle. Booking early will also give you the widest choice of airlines and flight times, because most major airports will have more than one airline which flies to your destination.

There are certain times of day when flights usually fill up quickly, and being the first in line will get you on the one most convenient for you. You may also be able to guarantee yourself either an aisle or window seat if you reserve your flight early. If you’re traveling with friends or family, you can arrange to sit together. Booking early, if you do it online, will get you your boarding pass and seat confirmation and you won’t have to stand at the check-in counter waiting for the customer agent to try to squeeze you in or put you on the stand-by list.

You may eve find yourself in the enviable situation of having a seat on an overbooked flight. If so, you will be given the option of giving u your seat for one on a later flight, and rewarded or your generosity with a free round-trip ticket to a future destination! You’ll still get to where you wan to go, just a few hours or a day later. And the next time you need to travel by air, it will be on the airline’s nickel!

The advantages of booking your flight early range from minor convenience to a major perk, so why would you even consider putting it off?

For those of you who have attended my lectures, classes or public events in the last few years you may recognize a term I coined; The Hopper Flight Scenario. I believe this method of researching your airfare may be the most important part of planning a trip and will yield the highest savings of any one thing you can do. I don’t believe I invented the process because professional travelers like myself have been using these methods for years; but as far as I know, no one has packaged it into a process which anyone can follow.

Lets start where 99% of people begin; airfare. Just after your voice box utters the phrase “lets go to… ” ” then the wheels begin to spin on where to get the best price for a ticket to get to ” ” Most of us go immediately to the internet to websites like Orbitz, Expedia or a favorite airline site such as Delta, American or British Air. We begin the random placement of dates, departure times, cities and such, and continue to spin the roulette wheel of entries until a price, departure time and date seems to be what we are looking for. Many people “site hop” to cross compare trying to beat the last site they visited lowest price. Others go to their trusty travel agent who will do exactly the same process with slightly different search tools and may or may not come back with a lower price. All in all the airfare search process is a game that most of us hate to play. The majority of these searches produce a combination of airlines, connection cities and layover times to get the price low. Many travelers just use their favorite airline to get frequent flyer miles but may pay more for the few miles they gain and can never, ever redeem when they want, due to blackout dates or random policy changes.

The Hopper Flight Scenario applies to Europe, but can be applied to regional airlines in the US as well. For this example, let’s say you want to go to Rome from Seattle. The first step in the process feels a little out of whack but will make sense later. Go to your favorite source for air, no matter if it’s the airline website, mega travel site or local travel agent and ask for the price for round trip from your city, in this case Seattle to one of four destinations in Europe; London, Amsterdam, Dublin and Paris. From those locations pick exactly what you want in departure times, travel time, layovers and connection city; get it the way you want it. Pay attention and keep the overall cost as low as possible but keep the details of the trip as close to ideal for you as possible.

The second part of the puzzle involves the use of one of the most successful concepts known to travel today; the low cost carrier. For some reason Europe knows how to do it right offering flights between major cities for mere pennies. Europeans have been savvy travelers using these options for years to hop between places like London to Amsterdam or Paris to Rome. These flights sell all day long for usually under Euro 100. How do they do that you say? Well the pricing structure is quite complicated and prices can range between one cent; yes one cent to several hundred dollars depending on the time of day, season (high or low) or if you are trying to fly on a holiday. The carriers also use the no frills model with no first or business class, no seating assignments, no complementary drinks or snacks and strict luggage weight requirements. All the restrictions and lack of creature comforts means deep savings when traveling within Europe. Many times it is less expensive to take a flight than it is to take the train. One of the major players is Ryan air which is the most profitable airline in the world. The Dublin, Ireland based airline operates new aircraft to hundreds of destinations within Europe for fares as low as one penny each way during one of their online sales. One thing you can’t do is get any of these tickets from your local travel agent. Fares are only sold online and fares change not every day but every hour so you must be on your best trip planning game when attempting to find the lowest price.

Putting the pieces of the hopper flight scenario together to save you money takes a little homework but will pay off big. To give you an idea what it looks like when it’s done correctly here is an example of the Hopper Flight Scenario at its best.

Major Carrier vs. Major Carrier + Hopper – Seattle Washington to Rome Italy

Seattle to Rome on one carrier, round trip– June 2009; result: Northwest Airlines price USD $1724 per person – source orbitz.com

Seattle to London on one carrier, round trip – June 2009; result: Northwest $985 RT pp + Hopper Flight, London to Rome RT € 116.00 = about USD $150.00. – source easyjet.com -Total Price USD $1135 per person

SAVINGS of $589 PER PERSON!

So as you can see The Hopper Flight Scenario pays off big time if you are willing to put in the time and energy to put all the little bits in place. Needless to say its not all good news; there is a downside to taking hopper flights that is worth telling you about.

The majority of low cost carriers do not fly into the major airports but secondary, smaller airports like Ciampino (CIA) instead of the major Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) (FCO). This means a longer trek to get to or from when flying in or out.

Low cost European carriers have very low baggage weight allowances. Luggage allowances are 10kg (22 Lbs) for hand luggage and 20kg (44 Lbs) for items checked on most carriers. To Americans; 44 pounds is just the shoes we are bringing and with some airlines charging up to 10 euro per kilo over the allowance; your budget ticket can soon turn expensive.

Lastly the low cost carriers offer a limited number of flights per day so making them work with your arrival or departure times, connection times and layovers takes some skill. On average there are two flights per day; morning and evening.

As you can see the hassle factor is quite high when using The Hopper Flight Scenario but the payoff can mean the difference between having to watch your pennies during the trip or “waiter another bottle of your finest please”

If you like the results but don’t want to deal with all the homework; my USA office would be happy to do it for you. Give them a call at 425.355.3711 or info@travel4real.com, www.italy4real.com.

Air travel has become a part and parcel of our daily lives, especially for those who need to travel around the places in quick time. Those days have gone by when air travel was meant only for the rich and famous. With changing times and invent of new technologies, it has become more affordable even for the general people. It is quick, comfortable and safe – and are simply the reasons why you are getting hooked to it. With its growing popularity, a number of airports and airlines have come up in almost all the countries in the world, and it is no wonder that the number is growing day by day. With so many airlines, airports and availability of flights, it is quite obvious that one would find a number of options on hand while moving between places by air. Sometimes it is a ‘happy-problem’ for you, but some other times, it is not. You may get confused quite easily with so many available options; sometimes you may end up in choosing a longer route or sometimes a costlier one. So, there is hardly any need to explain the importance of flights guide information and the role it plays in choosing the right flight. Let’s see how can we choose the right one.

How to choose your right flight?

As a traveler, you may have to travel to any parts of the world. Be it Europe, North America, South America, Asia or Oceania, thousands of travelers are regularly on the fly for their destinations. In order to choose the right flight for you, you need to be well-informed about your destination, airport, and flights. You need to find out, which is the nearest airport of your target destination. Sometimes, it may also happen that the nearest airport of your target destination is not well-connected with your city. In that case, you need to find out the nearest easily-accessible airport. It will provide you more options and make your journey more smooth.

Once you have choosen your target airport, then the hunt will begin for the flights. Sometimes you have direct flights from your place to your destination airport. In that case, your job is quite easy as you choose the flight that suites your time and cost. But there will be some cases when you won’t have direct flights to your destination airport. In that case, you need to find the available connecting flights to reach there. Here you have some calculations to do. Calculate the duration of your total journey which include the durtation of flights and your waiting hours. After all your calculations, you finally have to decide which route you want to go for – the route that takes less time or else, the route that costs less.

Major Airports

There are innumerable number of airports in all over the world. Europe –
the second largest continent in the world and also the home to a number of modern, prosperous and wonderful countries, has some of the most beautiful and busy airports in the world. London Heathrow Airport (LHR) in England, Madrid Airport (MAD) and Barcelona Airport (BCN) in Spain, Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and Munich Airport (MUC) in Germany, Chales de Gaulle Airport (CDG) in France, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) in Holland, Belfast International Airport (BFS) in Norther Ireland, Brussels Airport (BRU) in Belgium, Copenhagen Airport (CPH) in Denmark, and Zurich-Kloten Airport (ZRH) in Switzerland are some of the major airports in Europe. Leading airports in America include Los Angles International Airport (LAX), Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Denver International Airport (DEN), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), O’Hare International Airport (ORD) and John F. Fennedy International Airport (JFK) etc. Asian travelers may often have to land at the airports like Tokyo International Airport (HND), Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and Dubai International Airport (DXB) etc.

“Hi! I’ve just been invited to attend an ‘informational session’ at XYZ Airlines that’s being held next Saturday. I sent them my resume a couple of weeks ago. Is this an interview? Is there anything I should know?”

Yes, Virginia, airlines are hiring flight attendants again – and the so-called ‘informational session’ is often the first step in the flight attendant job interview process. Start off by congratulating yourself – obviously, your resume and cover letter did their job, and now the company wants to meet you in person. That’s the good news. The bad news is that they probably also liked a few dozen other people’s resumes enough to also invite them to this cozy little tea party. Much like acting, where there are dozens of people who want that one job, those who fill positions for flight attendants at major airlines have their interview process down to an art. If you’ve been invited in for a flight attendant job interview, here are some things that you should know.

The “cattle call”

The first stage of the interview process is often called a ‘cattle call’, after the same practice in the acting profession. The airline will invite as many as several hundred applicants to a conference center or hotel where you’ll get to fill out an application, then stand up and introduce yourself. You’ll have two to three minutes to wow the interviewers with your personal statement, and if you do, you may get an invitation to a personal or small group interview later in the day.

This kind of flight attendant job interview is great for the airline, especially if they’re hiring a lot of people in a short time – for instance, when they’re opening a new base in a new city. It’s far less expensive for them to rent conference centers in several cities and weed through several hundred people in a day than it would be for them to fly everyone to the home base for personal interviews. Unfortunately, it’s not so great for you – you need to make a good impression in a very short time. Basically, it’s a ‘stress interview’ – you may be asked, “Tell me a little about yourself,” or be hit with a tougher interview question. Your best strategy for this kind of flight attendant job interview is to practice responding spontaneously to many different questions. They’re looking for unruffled poise – and that comes with practice.

Small group interviews

If you wow them in the cattle call, or if your resume is really impressive, you’ll move on to the second round of interviews, usually a small group flight attendant job interview. You’ll be seated in a room with 8-10 other applicants while the interviewer asks questions of the group at large. It’ll be up to the applicants to answer in their own order – and how you answer questions will be as important as what you say in response to the questions. The recruiters will be watching you as much for your demeanor as for your knowledge – remember, they’ll be training you after they hire you, so knowing the job isn’t the most important thing here.

The best strategy is answer first on some questions, last on some questions and somewhere in the middle on most questions. When you answer, be polite and pleasant, never ever belittle another person or their answer, and answer briefly and concisely. The types of questions you might be asked will range from ‘How do you handle a conflict in this situation?’ to ‘What’s the most important thing to remember on an international flight?’

The interviewers are looking for people who are poised, confident and sensitive to other people. Remember, their job in a flight attendant job interview is to find people who will represent the company and make them look good to the customers. As a flight attendant, you are the person that people will associate with the airline. Make sure you project a confident, competent attitude.

One-on-one interviews

So you made it to a one-on-one interview. That’s quite an accomplishment in itself. At this point, the advice isn’t much different than it is in interviewing for any other job. Listen to the questions asked; respond to them briefly and concisely. Take the time to draw out your interviewer a little – knowing whether she or he was a flight attendant, and what his or her experience is in the industry can help you frame your answers effectively. Most importantly, remember that the airlines hire as much for attitude and image as they do for skills – as noted before, they’ll train you in the knowledge that you need. Instead, you should be working to present an outgoing, resourceful and friendly personality – just the kind of person you’d want in the aisles on your flight home.

With flights more affordable than they have ever been, more and more holidaymakers are heading abroad and planning for their half term and summer getaways early. However, with travel agents, flight operators and online price comparison websites to choose from, finding a cheap flights can still cause a few headaches, so here’s a step-by-step guide to point you in the right direction.

BOOK EARLY – The longer you leave it, the more you’ll pay. The early bird bags the best deal so consider everything you’ll need to book including flights, accommodation, car hire, airport parking and travel insurance early.

PICK YOUR DESTINATION – For many a set destination will already be in mind, but if you’re unsure, look at the window of time you have available and decide on the maximum and minimum length of time you want to be away for. The more flexible you can be, the more money you are likely to save.

TAKE A COMPLETE SEARCH – Though there are many traditionally low-priced airlines such as easyJet and RyanAir, they are not necessarily the cheapest and might not compete with each other on certain destinations. The easiest way to ensure you’re getting the best deal is to use an online comparison service such as travelsupermarket.com to compare prices from hundreds of providers with one search.

THINK ABOUT WHAT MATTERS – Your holiday won’t get off to a ‘flyer’ if you’re not happy with what’s available on your flight. Be sure to check that you have in-flight meals, potentially select your own seat, or check the amount of luggage you can carry.

ARRIVALS AND DEPARTURES – Don’t be rigid about the airport you use if you want to get the best deal. For example, if you live in the North West of England and traditionally fly from Manchester, why not consider Liverpool John Lennon airport, or a short drive to Birmingham? Regional departure points are usually quieter and often have easier access. Also consider alternative arrival points in your destination… for example, if your heading to the Costa del Sol look beyond Malaga and consider Almeria, Murcia, Gibraltar and other local airports. This could save you time and cash.

DIRECT OR CHANGEOVERS – Think about whether you want to bother with the hassle of a changeover if you’re taking a long-haul flight. Though direct flights are sometimes more expensive they can be much more convenient and reduce the likelihood of baggage being lost, etc.

MAKE YOUR BOOKING – Don’t sit and wait for prices to drop, because this is rare. Grab your booking while the price is good and remember to use the name on your passport and read the booking conditions so you know whether you can change or cancel your trip.

Hopefully with these easy-to-follow tips you can save a bundle on your next flight! Good luck and bon voyage!

Pilots young and old throughout the European continent need to stay sharp in their piloting skills. The flight deck can become a difficult place to work for those pilots who don’t practice, stay focused, and understand every aspect of their job. While the public may think that hours upon hours of flight experience are enough to make a great pilot, they don’t understand that taking a look at the airline industry from a different perspective is important from time to time. As well, pilots need to work on their skills outside of the flight deck in order to stay current with their licensing and certifications and prove their continued ability to safely fly airliners.

One way in which pilots can get more experience and a different perspective on their jobs is through flight simulation programs, available at flight schools and training facilities. These flight simulators range from simple computer programs to large simulators where pilots sit at a functioning control board. The reason why pilots often choose this route in their efforts to stay sharp is that it is less strenuous than actual flight and is a quick way to get some practice in between work days. As well, flight centres and training facilities are becoming more plentiful in the United Kingdom and Europe, which allows travelling pilots to test out new control configurations and flight simulators.

Another way for pilots to get some extra flight hours into their busy work schedule is to pick up some hours flying charter planes. Often, this option is best used by airline pilots that have just left an airline position, as the flight schedule can be rigorous. Charter flights allow pilots to work on smaller airplanes with fewer functions, which require pilots to be more intuitive and thoughtful in their jobs. As well, charter flights are a welcome reprieve from the pressures and rigors of the airline industry. Charter planes often carry less than twenty people, allowing a pilot the chance to speak with passengers and break away from their routine.

In any event, airline pilots need to fly extra hours for a number of reasons. Pilots need to see their positions from a different perspective, even if this requires sacrificing a bit of personal time with flight simulators. As well, pilots can always use experience in a variety of different settings to keep them on their toes. Finally, pilots need to understand the importance of their jobs to the hundreds of thousands of passengers they help travel throughout the year.

Are you looking for a career that is consistent and yet offers flexibility? Perhaps you want to work full-time but also have this itch to see the world? If you can answer yes to these questions, perhaps it is time for you to consider becoming a flight attendant.

Being a flight attendant is perfect for people who love a consistent job but still need adventure. One of the greatest perks about being a flight attendant is that you get the best of both the familiar and the unknown. What could be better than getting to work with great people, getting to serve great customers, and getting to see parts of the country or even of the world in the meantime? Many jobs that pride themselves in being adventurous are inconsistent or sporadic at best. Working as a flight attendant allows you the freedom to fly to new places but gives you many hours of work to do each week.

Another great thing about working as a flight attendant is that you get to work with a variety of people. Not only will you get to interact with other flight attendants, pilots, and other airline personnel, but you will daily get to spend time with customers on your flights. Flight attendants will meet young children and senior citizens all within the course of a normal day. As a flight attendant you will learn to interact with people from a variety of cultures as well. What a great way to learn about the world and about people different than yourself.

Many flight attendants love the job because of the time they spend in between flights in new cities all over the country and the world. Can you think of another job that allows you to work for ten hours on a flight to London and then gives you three days to rest and enjoy the sites of London before you return home? The longer you are a flight attendant for most airlines, the further you can travel and the more exotic places you can visit.

If you are looking for a new job or to change to a more exciting career, check out the opportunities that exist to train to be a flight attendant. Most flight attendant positions only require a few weeks of training and then you can start working right away! So consider whether or not being a flight attendant might be the perfect job for you!

If you wanted to be a flight attendant in the old days, it was a pretty straightforward process. You simply went to the airline’s ticket counter, asked for an application and took it home. After you filled it out, you sent it in to the home office and waited for them to call you for an interview.

Times have changed, and so has the recruitment process for jobs as a flight attendant. These days, the quickest and easiest way to apply for a job as a flight attendant is on the Internet. Your first stop in your job hunt for that perfect flight attendant job is a search engine or directory to find the web sites of as many airlines as possible. Don’t forget to include the charter services and fractional owner airlines that are among the highest paying of all jobs as a flight attendant. With that list in hand, fire up your web browser again and start hitting the airline company web sites.

Be sure that you have your entire resume details gathered together. Many of the airline web sites now do their preliminary screening of applicants for flight attendant jobs over the Internet. You may be able to simply upload your current resume along with a cover letter, or you may have to enter your details into a web form. Many job experts recommend that if you’re given a choice, opt to use the provided form rather than uploading your resume. Often, the form feeds names and details directly into a database that the company will use when sending out invitations to applicants to attend group interviews and informational sessions scheduled around the country.

Telephone Interviews for Flight Attendant Jobs

Some airlines have recorded telephone interviews to screen out people applying for jobs as a flight attendant. You may find the telephone number in a recruitment ad in your newspaper, or get it through the reservations line for the airline you want to apply to. When you call, you’ll hear a short description of the jobs that are available, and then you’ll be asked to submit your name, address and contact information over the telephone and to answer several questions about situations that you might run up against in the job. Those recorded interviews will be reviewed by hiring managers, and those that do well on the questions will be invited for face-to-face interviews for jobs as a flight attendant.

Airline Open House Interviews (and on Campus Recruitment)

The most common way to begin the process when you’re considering a job as a flight attendant is through an open house/interview held by an airline. Airlines often hold these when they’re planning to start a new training class, or to open a home base in a new city. Usually, they’re advertised in the job sections of the local newspaper a few days before the open house. On the day of the event, the recruiters will give a short presentation about what it’s like to work as a flight attendant for their airline. When the presentation is finished, interested applicants will be invited to step up on stage and introduce themselves with a short explanation of their job history and qualifications. Those who seem best suited for the job will be discreetly asked to remain for one on one or small group interviews.

Because the airlines hire far fewer people in jobs as flight attendants than the number who apply, they can afford to be choosy and hire only those that really catch the eye of the recruiter. That means, though, that you need to be persistent. Don’t stop with one airline or one try. Apply to several different companies, and follow up on your resumes. There are far more jobs as flight attendants than you’d expect – you just have to keep looking for them.

The airline industry and the general flight job market are filled with positions that require a very specific skill set. Pilots need to have years of experience in order to properly control the flight of a plane. Mechanics need to be well versed on the inner workings of an airplane engine in order to understand problems that may come up. Air traffic controllers must be familiar with radar and other navigation equipment in order to fulfil their lofty job responsibilities. In all, the airline industry requires compartmentalized individuals each working toward the goal of safe flight.

However, these professionals rely on generalists in order to get their job done. This may not make much sense but the flight operations assistant needs to be familiar with the entire airport in order to complete their job. Like operation assistants in other fields, a flight operations assistant works with flight and airport staff in order to coordinate technical support and communications on a regular basis. An operations assistant typically learns about the airport by working in various departments before jumping to such a general position. In this way, they can learn all of the nuances that go into creating the daily hustle and bustle of the airport.

A professional that chooses to pursue a career as a flight operations assistant needs to understand the stresses of the job. These professionals typically work long hours which require a high level of concentration and upper level thinking in order to solve natural and manmade problems. The weather may turn bad, requiring a flight operations assistant to speak with runway maintenance workers to clear it off to keep flights landing on time. There may be mechanical problems caused by careless maintenance, which requires a flight operations assistant to prepare a ground crew for an incoming flight.

These stresses make it crucial that a flight operations assistant have the skills and temperament to do the job day in and day out. These professionals need to have an even keel and be level headed even in the most stressful situations. Flight operations requires an exceptional level of organization, as there are hundreds of daily tasks that need to be coordinated to make the airport run efficiently. As well, a flight operations assistant needs to know how to communicate with individual professionals and understand the problems they encounter in fulfilling their job responsibilities. A young professional who exhibits these skills will succeed in flight operations.
